Our children are innovators, inventors, engineers, problem-solvers, and critical thinkers.

Perhaps children in other schools are too, but we have the privilege of a fundamental difference: bringing our Catholic faith to the forefront of every single engineering design challenge, coding exercise, quiz, read-aloud, and robotics lesson. Their dedicated teachers breathe life into our classrooms in ways that were never possible when we were children.

What is the difference between a stream academy and a traditional catholic school?

We'll start by saying that all of our Catholic Schools are exceptional. There are four designated STREAM academies, including Catholic Academy of Waterbury, that roots itself in the nationally-acclaimed curriculum standards from the Archdiocese of Hartford. With those as our guide, and STREAM as our theme, our master teachers take these curriculum standards and naturally weave science, technology, religion, engineering, the arts, and math into all subject areas. This makes for a tremendously hands-on learning environment. In addition, teachers at the designated STREAM academies engage in a much greater amount of professional learning in these areas. For example, recently teachers from all four STREAM academies came together to learn, brainstorm, share, and grow in these areas. It was exhilarating to see what is taking place in our STREAM academies across the Archdiocese. It takes the great Catholic Schools that we are known for and elevates them in a unique way.

Catholic Academy of Waterbury is a ‘think forward’ institution that places high priority on educator training, learning, leadership, and 21st century skill applications. We guide our children’s developing relationship with God in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic faith and provide a rigorous learning environment that fosters academic excellence.
