STREAM Educators Collaborate to Strengthen Classrooms and Inquiry-Based Learning Across Connecticut’s STREAM Schools

April 8th, 2024

The Center for Catholic Education and Formation recently hosted a highly successful professional development day that brought together educators from the STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Arts and Mathematics) schools in the state. The development day was organized by STREAM principals and the Center to promote collaboration among STREAM educators and provide them with practical tools and strategies to enhance their teaching.

The day began with educators presenting their STREAM projects one-on-one to other educators in a “science fair” format. Each educator was asked to bring a presentation board highlighting the importance of inquiry-based learning and interdisciplinary work through the specific STREAM activities done in their class.

Participants then engaged in a variety of interactive conversations with other educators teaching at the same grade levels that focused on topics such as technology integration, religious incorporation and assessment strategies. The conversations were led by questions outlined by the Center and STREAM principals.

"We are thrilled with the success of this professional development day and the positive impact it had on educators from our STREAM schools,” said Valarie Mara, Superintendent of Catholic Schools. “Our goal was to create an environment where educators could come together to share their knowledge and experiences and to learn from one another. We are confident that this event has helped to develop stronger collaborations across STREAM schools and educators, and we look forward to building on this momentum in the future."

Overall, the professional development day was a great success, and feedback from the participants was overwhelmingly positive. The Center for Catholic Education and Formation is committed to providing educators with the tools and resources they need to succeed, and this event was a clear example of that commitment to our STREAM schools.
